You’ll focus on learning how to visually communicate rather than working with design software. Digital and interaction design encompasses many aspects of digital design including product design, graphic design, computing, web and app development. Many apps and websites employ digital and interaction designers to make their products more effective and user-friendly. This specialization explores how users interact with products like websites and apps and technology like phones, smartwatches, and tablets. Students delve into graphics, text, and prompts that help users navigate a product to complete a task or find information.

The team knew it wanted flexible uniforms — with the new pant design and no stripe on the side of the jerseys, the team can wear any combination of top and bottom in any of the three colors — and wanted to incorporate some elements of Colorado. It could end up being pushed to 2025 as Apple continues development and finalizes production. In the case of the Apple Watch, we can expect similar benefits from the switch to a new RCC logic board. Today’s supply chain rumor comes from Digitimes and says that a next-generation Apple Watch will use a new resin coated copper (RCC) motherboard design. Apple is believed to be working on “the biggest overhaul yet” to the Apple Watch’s design. A new rumor today indicates that the next-generation Apple Watch could include a design change that frees up more space inside for other components – or that makes the device thinner.

Major in graphic design with leaders in the industry

The Design Minor is a six-credit program available to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, Wharton and the School of Nursing. The curriculum emphasizes an integrated understanding of design as a tool for inquiry that responds to social, cultural, and environmental challenges. Students minoring in design will engage in theoretical frameworks that utilize contemporary methods of representation, technology, and fabrication with a focus on knowledge production. For those wishing to broaden their search, design is but one of 10 related majors within the broader visual and performing arts field of study. Design majors take courses in several different areas of study including art history, modeling, drafting, computer programming, studio art, typography and more.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design Degree

A degree in digital and interaction design will present a host of career opportunities in design studios, in companies focused on innovation of products, and in technology-based industries, such as telecommunication and media companies. On the road to a BFA in graphic design, you’ll blend and experiment with a wide range of media—coding, books, film, press kits, packaging, 3D motion graphics, apps and more. Through the process of research, strategy, concept development, prototyping and project execution, you’ll craft compelling brand imagery and graphics-based experiences for a range of classroom and real-world clients. Earning your master’s degree in art & design is a good move if you plan to pursue either a position of authority — such as art director, museum curator, restoration specialist, or art historian — or if you plan to enter art education. During this one–to-two year program, you’ll have a chance to immerse yourself in your concentration area. In order to become a public school educator or art instructor, you’ll likely need to earn your master’s degree in fine arts, complete some schooling in education, and qualify for a state-issued teacher’s license.
Completed in the fall semester of the final year, students have the opportunity to “travel all over the world” and “experience a foreign place or country for one week.” The trip is faculty led and the cost is inclusive within tuition fees. Students in the MFA program “concentrate on the philosophical, communicative, and aesthetic relationships of visual problem solving and the interacting skills leading to the effective articulation of concepts,” says the school. Graduates will have the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in Design Education and/or further their professional practices in conducting visual or theoretical research, and in investigating the intersections of function and expression in design problem solving. SCAD graduates are prepared to join elite agencies, multinational companies, or start their own businesses as they lead branding, visual marketing, interactive media, and immersive campaigns.

Your master’s degree could also be an important stepping-stone on your way to a Ph.D. The combined major in computer science and design integrates fundamental design courses with a strong programming foundation. Students will declare a concentration in interaction design, graphic and information design, or experience design. Students in this major often have an interest in human-centered design methods used in developing digital interfaces and applications. People who are successful in communication design tend to have visual and kinesthetic/tactile learning styles. Communication designers are creative, imaginative and artistic, and possess good hand-motor skills.
At Taylor, the Design major includes courses that deliver high-demand skills and expertise for all graphic design and related communications fields. After graduation, communication design master’s holders often find work as graphic designers, web developers, copywriters or creative directors. However, some graduates choose to work in less conventional careers such as brand management, multimedia design and content strategy. Reductions in print publishing will likely impact career opportunities in this field. However, the growth of digital products, such as websites and phone apps, will require graphic designers. These professionals will need to understand new media outlets and master technical skills to complement their artistic abilities.
The school is one of the original 37 public land-grant institutions created after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act. UIUC serves nearly 52,400 students enrolled in 150 undergraduate and more than 100 graduate and professional programs. Programs are offered across 16 “academic units,” including the College of Fine and Applied Arts, which houses the School of Art and Design—home to the Graphic Design Program. Students begin the program “by learning to use the basic principles of design and design thinking, and progress to learn image making, color theory and typography as they create a wide variety of visual communications,” says the school. The BFA is a pre-professional degree program encompassing typography, image creation/manipulation, interaction design and 3D design that is intended to prepare students for employment in the field of design. During the senior year, BFA Design students undertake a capstone design project and show their work in a public exhibition at the Visual Arts Center.
This survey is a unique source for examining the relationship between degree field and occupation, as well as for examining other characteristics of college-educated individuals, including work activities, salary, and demographic information. Please visit the university’s Office of Admissions website for general admissions information and application requirements for international students. BA Graphic Design students will take fewer credit hours in the major than BFA students will, and they are encouraged to choose a minor or double major in another program such as Advertising, Fine Arts, Motion Graphics, or Photography. BA students will choose a concentration in one discipline such as Publication Design, Web Design, or a general concentration. MSU’s College of Arts & Letters, Department of Art, Art History, and Design, offers a BFA and a 15 credit hour Minor in Graphic Design.
The 2021 NSCG retains the four-panel rotating panel design that began with the 2010 NSCG. As part of this design, every new panel receives a baseline survey interview and three biennial follow-up interviews before rotating out of the survey. The colors, patterns, and fabric textures you choose are crucial in your design of clothes, accessories, and footwear. All programs in the School of Design are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Graduates of the programs have landed positions at places such as Fjord (part of Accenture Interactive), Google, Leo Burnett, and Modern Luxury. Programs are offered in five academic divisions including the Schools of Art and Design, Liberal Arts, and Graduate Studies, Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology, and the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies.
Programs for aspiring graphic designers include BFA and MFA degrees in Graphic Design (Gx) and a 132-unit Designmatters Minor. The undergraduate graphic design program prepares students for careers in print and branding, packaging and environmental graphic design, motion and visual interaction design, transmedia, and spatial media. Course highlights include Information Design, Materials of Art and Design, Motion Design, Narrative Imaging, Package Design, Transmedia, and Visual Interaction Design. Students will complete 87 studio units, which allows them to create an emphasis area through electives. All students will have the opportunity to complete a portfolio and career preparation courses.
